Angled radiator valves connect pipes that rise from the floor to radiators and towel rails with side connections, the most common set-up in UK homes.
Angled radiator valves
Angled valves are the most widely used radiator valves in the UK. The valve body turns through 90 degrees, taking water from a pipe coming up out of the floor into a connection on the side of the radiator.
Do I need angled valves?
Look at where your pipes come from and where they join the radiator. If the pipes rise from the floor and the radiator connects at the side, near the bottom, angled valves are the right choice. If the pipes come out of the wall, you'll need corner valves; if they line up with a connection underneath, choose straight valves.
Manual or thermostatic
Angled valves come as manual pairs, with a simple on/off head and a lockshield, or as thermostatic valves that regulate the room temperature for you.
Fitting
Standard angled valves suit 15mm pipe and screw into the radiator with a ½" BSP tail. The control valve normally goes on the flow pipe and the lockshield on the return; ask your installer to balance the system once everything is in.
