How to choose a basin tap
The right basin tap depends on the basin more than the tap. Match the tap to how your basin is mounted and how many tap holes it has, then pick the finish.
Which type do you need?
- Inset, semi-recessed and pedestal basins: a standard mono basin mixer. Oriana mono mixers have a 142mm spout, sized for standard basins.
- Countertop, vessel and sit-on bowls: a tall basin mixer. Its raised body lifts the spout clear of the rim, so water lands in the bowl rather than on the worktop.
- A clear worktop or floating vanity: a wall mounted basin tap. The Oriana wall mixer projects 213mm from the finished wall.
Tap holes
Every deck-mounted tap here fits a single tap hole. The Oriana 500mm vanity basin, for example, has one tap hole and takes any of them. If your basin has two tap holes, a mono mixer leaves one uncovered, so you will need a blanking cap or a new basin.
Waterfall or standard spout?
Waterfall basin taps pour water through a wide, flat spout in a soft sheet. A round spout gives a narrower, more controlled stream, which suits smaller and shallower basins.
Finishes
Choose chrome for easy cleaning, matt black for contrast or brushed brass for warmth. Each Oriana basin tap has a matching bath tap in the same finish, so you can see the rest of the set in bath taps.
Basin tap FAQs
Is a basin waste included?
Oriana basin taps are sold without a waste, so add a click-clack waste in the same finish. The Velora waterfall basin mixer comes with a click-clack waste in the box.
Will a basin tap work on low water pressure?
In brushed brass and matt black, the Oriana mono and tall mixers suit gravity-fed low pressure systems as well as combi boilers. The Velora waterfall mixer works from 0.5 bar. The pressure range is listed on each product page.
What size is a standard basin tap hole?
Most UK basins have a tap hole of around 35mm, which suits a standard mono basin mixer. Check your basin's specification if it is unusual.
