Hooks are the most useful accessory per pound in a bathroom and the one most often left out. Two hooks behind the door costs very little and stops towels ending up on the floor.

• Fit a pair rather than one — single hooks always end up overloaded.

How high should a robe hook be?

Around 1.6 to 1.7m from the floor lets a dressing gown hang without touching the ground. Lower it for a childrens bathroom.

Can robe hooks be fitted without drilling?

These are supplied for screw fixing. If you cannot drill, a strong adhesive pad rated for bathroom use is an option, but it will not hold a soaking towel as reliably as a screw fixing.
