Steel flat panel radiators in the standard UK configurations — single panel single convector, double panel single convector and double panel double convector — in white, for horizontal or vertical fitting. The flat front gives a cleaner face than a traditional ribbed panel while keeping the same output for the space.

The type number tells you what you are getting. Type 11 is one panel with one set of fins behind it, Type 21 is two panels with one set of fins, Type 22 is two panels with two sets. More convector fins means more output from the same wall width, at the cost of depth sticking out into the room.

Understanding panel types

  • Type 11 — single panel, single convector. Slimmest, lowest output.
  • Type 21 — double panel, single convector. A middle ground on depth and output.
  • Type 22 — double panel, double convector. Most output for the wall width, deepest.
  • Work out the heat requirement for the room first, then pick the type that delivers it in the space you have.
  • Stand brackets are available if you are mounting a panel radiator clear of the wall.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Type 11, 21 and 22?

The first digit is the number of water panels and the second is the number of convector fin sets. Type 11 is one panel and one convector, Type 21 is two panels and one convector, Type 22 is two panels and two convectors. Going up the scale gives more output from the same width but a deeper radiator.

Which panel type do I need?

Calculate the heat loss for the room, then choose the smallest type that meets it within the wall space you have. If a Type 11 will not deliver enough across the available width, step up to a 21 or 22 rather than going longer.

Can flat panel radiators be fitted vertically?

Some are made specifically for vertical fitting, and those are listed as vertical. Do not turn a horizontal panel on its side — the internal waterways and air venting are designed for one orientation.
