A flat panel radiator gives you all the output of a standard panel with a smooth, flat front, so it looks neater and more modern on the wall. This Type 11 Flat Panel Radiator is a single panel single convector model in white.

Choose from 22 sizes with outputs from 1,279 to 7,444 BTU/hr at ΔT60, so you can match the radiator to the room. It is finished in RAL 9016 bright white and pressure tested to 13 bar, so it is suitable for combi, system and conventional boilers. Radiator valves are sold separately.

Outputs are quoted at ΔT60, the manufacturer's test standard. Many UK comparisons use ΔT50, which gives a lower figure (roughly a fifth less), so allow a little extra output when sizing for a modern low-temperature or heat pump system.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right size?
Work out the heat your room needs with a BTU calculator (it depends on room size, windows and insulation), then pick a size whose output meets or slightly exceeds it. If you are running a lower flow temperature, allow extra.

Which valves do I need?
You will need a pair of 15mm radiator valves. For a matching look choose manual modern radiator valves in white or thermostatic control with the designer TRV twin pack in white. See all radiator valves.

Need more or less heat?
Try the Type 22 version. More panels and convectors mean more heat from the same wall space.

Help choosing

Size a radiator by heat output (BTU), not by how it looks on the wall.

How much heat does your room need?

Enter your room size to see the heat output you need.

  1. Match the output to the room. Use the BTU figure from the calculator. In a bathroom, a towel rail alone often heats a small room; bigger rooms may need a radiator too.
  2. Check your connections. Measure the gap between your pipes and choose valves to suit: angled, straight or corner (see the valve helper on our valve pages).
  3. Heat pump? At the lower water temperatures heat pumps run at, expect roughly half the listed output.
  4. Summer use. Central heating rails only warm up when the heating is on. A dual fuel kit adds an electric element where the rail supports it.

Questions people ask

What does BTU mean?
BTU (British Thermal Units) is the heat output. The higher the figure, the more heat it gives. Use the calculator under Help choosing to see what your room needs. Outputs are quoted at ΔT50.
How much heat do I need?
As a rough guide allow around 100W per square metre of floor in an average room, and more for older properties, high ceilings, large windows or north-facing rooms. Outputs are quoted at ΔT50.
Are valves included?
Radiators are supplied without valves unless the description says otherwise. Add a pair to suit your pipework.
Will it work with a heat pump?
Yes, but heat pumps run at lower water temperatures, so a radiator gives out roughly half its ΔT50 figure. Size up accordingly.
What are pipe centres?
The distance between the two connections. Measure between your pipes and compare it with the pipe centres, allowing for the valves.
