This chrome Lumaoval measures 1400x400mm and mounts vertically. Round tube bars give towels air on both sides, so they dry faster than they would folded over a flat face. At ΔT50 it puts out 1,920 BTU (565W); on a lower flow temperature expect less.
Plumbing is standard: 1/2" inlets and outlets, plus a pair of 15mm valves.

Frequently asked questions
Will it fit a narrow wall?
Yes — 400mm is narrow enough for most awkward walls. The height is where it takes its space: 1400mm, so check you have headroom above the skirting and below any shelf or cabinet.
Why are two BTU figures quoted?
Heat output depends on how hot the water is. At ΔT50 this rail gives 1,920 BTU; drop the flow temperature, as a heat pump does, and it falls to about 1,780 BTU. Most UK merchants quote the ΔT50 number.
How does it compare with the other Lumaoval sizes?
The Lumaoval range runs from 800x400mm at 1,200 BTU to 1600x600mm at 2,700 BTU, in 25 sizes. This one is 1400x400mm and 1,920 BTU, so there is a smaller and a larger option either side of it.
Are valves included?
You need one pair of 15mm valves. Match the finish to the rail — we stock them in chrome — and choose angled or straight depending on where your pipes come from.

Help choosing
A towel rail should keep the bathroom warm, not just dry towels. Check it's powerful enough for the room.
Enter your room size to see the heat output you need.
- Match the output to the room. Use the BTU figure from the calculator. In a bathroom, a towel rail alone often heats a small room; bigger rooms may need a radiator too.
- Check your connections. Measure the gap between your pipes and choose valves to suit: angled, straight or corner (see the valve helper on our valve pages).
- Heat pump? At the lower water temperatures heat pumps run at, expect roughly half the listed output.
- Summer use. Central heating rails only warm up when the heating is on. A dual fuel kit adds an electric element where the rail supports it.
Still not sure? Send us your measurements and we'll check for you.
