Product InformationSpecification

Valeno in grey is a flat panel towel rail rather than a ladder, so towels hang against a solid warm face. At 800x450mm it suits a larger family bathroom. It gives 1,283 BTU, or 376W, measured at ΔT50.

Connections are 1/2" BSP and it needs a pair of 15mm valves, sold separately.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit a narrow wall?

At 450mm across and 800mm tall it is designed for tall, narrow wall space. Measure 450mm plus a little either side for your hands, and allow about 100mm underneath for the valve tails.

Why are two BTU figures quoted?

1,283 BTU is the output at ΔT50, the standard UK rating. 1,013 BTU is the same rail at ΔT30, which is closer to what you get on a heat pump or a condensing boiler running a low flow temperature. Size from the figure that matches your system.

How does it compare with the other Valeno sizes?

The Valeno range runs from 650x400mm at 1,009 BTU to 1600x600mm at 2,565 BTU, in 11 sizes. This one is 800x450mm and 1,283 BTU, so there is a smaller and a larger option either side of it.

What valves do I need?

You need one pair of 15mm valves. Match the finish to the rail — we stock them in grey — and choose angled or straight depending on where your pipes come from.

Help choosing

A towel rail should keep the bathroom warm, not just dry towels. Check it's powerful enough for the room.

How much heat does your room need?

Length (m) Width (m) Height (m) Room Windows Outside walls

Enter your room size to see the heat output you need.

Match the output to the room. Use the BTU figure from the calculator. In a bathroom, a towel rail alone often heats a small room; bigger rooms may need a radiator too.
Check your connections. Measure the gap between your pipes and choose valves to suit: angled, straight or corner (see the valve helper on our valve pages).
Heat pump? At the lower water temperatures heat pumps run at, expect roughly half the listed output.
Summer use. Central heating rails only warm up when the heating is on. A dual fuel kit adds an electric element where the rail supports it.

Still not sure? Send us your measurements and we'll check for you.

Questions people ask

What does BTU mean?

BTU (British Thermal Units) is the heat output. The higher the figure, the more heat it gives. Use the calculator under Help choosing to see what your room needs. Outputs are quoted at ΔT50.

Which valves do I need?

Match the valve to how your pipe meets the rail: pipe and inlet in a straight line needs a straight valve, a pipe coming up from the floor into a side inlet needs an angled valve, and a pipe from the wall into a side inlet needs a corner valve. Valves aren't included unless stated.

Can I use it in summer?

A central-heating-only rail warms up only when your heating is on. A dual fuel rail with an electric element can run on its own. Check the heating type in the Specification tab, as not every rail can be converted.

What size rail do I need?

Check the heat output in the Specification tab. As a towel warmer any size works; if the rail is the room's only heat source, make sure the output covers the room, or message us and we'll help.

Will it match my brushed brass taps?

Brushed gold and brushed brass are the same warm satin family and coordinate well. See Complete the look for pieces in the same finish.
