LED Mirror FAQs

Everything you need to know before you buy & fit your mirror.

Are LED bathroom mirrors safe to use in a bathroom?
Yes. Our LED mirrors are IP44 rated, meaning they're protected against splashing water from any direction. Under UK wiring regulations (BS 7671) that makes them suitable for Zone 2 — the area around a basin — and any zone beyond it.
Which bathroom zone can I install it in?
An IP44 rating covers Zone 2 and outside zones — typically above a basin or on any wall away from direct shower spray. For Zone 1 (directly above a bath or shower), an IP65 fitting is recommended. If you're unsure, position the mirror at least 60cm from the bath or shower edge.
Do I need an electrician to fit it?
If the mirror is hardwired into the mains, yes — bathroom electrical work in the UK falls under Part P Building Regulations and should be carried out by a qualified electrician on an RCD-protected circuit. Always check the supplied instructions for your specific model.
Does the demister keep the whole mirror clear?
The heated demister pad sits behind the glass and keeps a generous central area clear — more than enough to shave or apply makeup straight after a hot shower. Give it a minute or two after switching on to reach full effect.
What's the difference between front-lit and backlit?
Front-lit mirrors throw light forward onto your face — the best choice for detailed tasks like makeup and shaving. Backlit mirrors cast a soft glow around the edges for a calmer, more ambient, spa-like feel. Some designs combine both.
Can I mount it portrait or landscape?
Yes — our mirrors are designed for both vertical and horizontal mounting, so they'll suit your space either way. Check the position of the touch control before fixing so it ends up where you want it.
Can I change the light colour?
Tri-Light models let you cycle between warm, neutral and cool white with a tap of the touch sensor, and a memory function remembers your last setting — cool light to wake up, warmer light to wind down.
How does the Bluetooth work?
On Bluetooth models, pair your phone or tablet to the mirror's built-in speaker to play music or podcasts while you get ready — no extra gadgets or wiring needed.
Is the glass safe?
Our mirrors use copper-free, shatter-resistant glass, which resists the black-edge corrosion common in steamy bathrooms and is safer if accidentally knocked.
How long do the LEDs last and how much do they cost to run?
The LEDs are rated for around 50,000 hours and draw very little power, so they're cheap to run and you won't be replacing anything for years.

Front-lit or backlit?

The lighting style changes how the mirror looks and how well it lights your face. Here's how to choose.

Front-lit
LED strips face forward, casting even light directly onto your face with no shadows.
Best for makeup & shaving
Backlit
Light glows from behind the mirror onto the wall, creating a soft halo and calm atmosphere.
Best for ambience
Front & backlit
The best of both — bright task light on your face plus a warm ambient glow around the edges.
