Matt black is the finish for a bold, modern bathroom. It frames white ceramics, looks sharp against marble-effect tiles and pairs well with black framed shower screens. The Calvera matt black freestanding bath shower mixer tap is from our Calvera range: a crisp, square design with a flat, angular spout and a slim rectangular lever, clean-lined enough for the most minimal bathroom.

A freestanding, floor-mounted bath shower mixer is designed to stand beside a freestanding bath, with its own handset for rinsing and hair washing. Quarter-turn ceramic disc valves give a light, positive action from off to full flow. It is rated for low water pressure, so it works on gravity-fed systems as well as combi boilers and pumped supplies.

Do I need a bath waste?
Yes, a bath waste is sold separately. The easy clean click clack bath waste in matt black matches this finish.

How is it installed?
The mixer bolts to the floor and is fed from below, so the hot and cold pipes need to come up through the floor where the tap will stand. Plan this before the floor is finished.

Is it available in other finishes?
Yes, the same design also comes in chrome.

Will it work with your water system?

How is your hot water heated?

This tap needs at least Suitable for low pressure systems bar. Choose your system to check.

Count the tap holes. Mono mixers need 1 hole, pillar taps 2, 3-hole mixers 3; wall-mounted taps need none.
Check the spout reach and height. On a vessel or countertop basin, choose a tall mixer or a wall-mounted tap.
Waste. If a waste isn't included, choose slotted for a basin with an overflow and unslotted for one without.
Match your finish. Stick to one finish name across taps, shower and accessories so everything matches.

Questions people ask

Will this tap work on low water pressure?

Check the working pressure in the Specification tab or description. Combi boilers and unvented cylinders usually give plenty of pressure. Gravity-fed systems (a cold tank in the loft) often give less than 1 bar, so choose a low-pressure tap or fit a pump. Not sure? Send us your boiler or system type and we'll check.

How many tap holes do I need?

Mono mixers need one tap hole, pillar taps need two and 3-hole mixers need three. Wall-mounted taps need none in the basin or bath. Check your basin or bath before ordering.

Is a waste included?

If a waste is included it's listed in the description. If not, choose a slotted waste for a basin with an overflow hole, or an unslotted waste for a basin without one.

Can I fit it myself?

Swapping a deck-mounted tap like for like is a common DIY job if you're comfortable isolating the water. Wall-mounted taps need pipework inside the wall and are best fitted by a plumber.
