Galaxy Sky Blue Onyx Marble Effect Polished Porcelain Tile 60x60cm

Also known as Sky Blue marble effect, the Galaxy Sky Blue Onyx tile delivers deep, dramatic blue in a hard-wearing polished porcelain. Rich ink-blue tones are shot through with paler onyx veining and multi-tonal movement across multiple faces, so the pattern flows naturally without obvious repeats. The high-gloss surface gives the colour real depth and a mirror-like sheen, making it a striking choice for a feature bathroom, a statement cloakroom, or a bold kitchen floor that won't look like everyone else's.

Supplied in a versatile 60x60cm square format with rectified (laser-cut) edges, it lays with very fine grout lines for a clean, continuous run of colour. It's a forgiving size to work with, well suited to smaller rooms and feature areas, and it's rated for underfloor heating.

Why choose Galaxy Sky Blue Onyx

  • Bold, saturated colour — a deep blue marble/onyx effect that's hard to find and makes an instant statement.
  • Non-porous & low-maintenance — porcelain won't etch or stain the way natural stone does, and never needs resealing.
  • Polished gloss finish — reflects light and intensifies the colour for a luxe, high-end look.
  • Rectified edges — precision-cut for tight 2–3mm joints and a seamless finish.

Where it works best

This is a feature tile — it shines as a bathroom or cloakroom floor, a statement wall behind a vanity or bath, or a bold kitchen and utility floor. The deep blue pairs beautifully with brushed brass and gold brassware for warmth, or chrome and matt-black for a cooler, contemporary scheme, and sits well against white sanitaryware and pale cabinetry that let the colour take centre stage. As a polished tile, keep it to interior use and pair it with a matt or textured tile for shower trays and step-in areas that need more grip.

Care & sealing

Porcelain doesn't need sealing the way natural stone does, but on polished tiles a one-off application of a quality impregnating sealer after fitting helps repel grout haze and everyday marks. Clean with warm water and a pH-neutral tile cleaner — avoid acidic or bleach-heavy products that can dull the gloss over time.

Frequently asked questions

Is Galaxy Sky Blue Onyx the same as the "Sky Blue" marble effect tile?
Yes — this is the same 60x60cm deep-blue polished porcelain, sometimes listed as Sky Blue marble effect. Same tile, same specification.

Is it suitable for a wet-room shower floor?
As a polished tile it has an R9 slip rating, so we'd not recommend it for the wet area of a shower floor. It's ideal for the rest of a bathroom floor and walls — pair it with a matt or anti-slip tile in the shower itself.

What grout colour works best with deep blue tiles?
A grey or anthracite grout keeps the joints discreet and lets the blue dominate, while a white grout creates a crisp, graphic grid if you want the tile shapes to stand out. Both work — it depends whether you want the joints to recede or frame each tile.

Can these be used on walls as well as floors?
Yes, they're rated for both. On plasterboard or stud walls, fit a tile backer board first to take the weight, as polished porcelain is heavier than standard ceramic wall tile.

How many tiles do I need?
Each tile covers 0.36m², so you need roughly 2.78 tiles per square metre. Take your area in m², add around 10% for cuts and breakages, then divide by 0.36 — or use the area calculator at the top of this page.

  1. Check where it can go. Floors need a tile rated for floors. In showers and wet rooms, a matt or anti-slip finish is safer underfoot than polished.
  2. Measure and add 10%. Length x width for each area, added together, plus 10% for cuts and breakage (15% for herringbone or diagonal layouts). The calculator above does this for you.
  3. Pick your joint. This tile is rectified (precision-cut edges), so a slim 2mm joint gives a near-seamless look. Large tiles need a flat surface; levelling clips help.
  4. Order it all together. Tiles are made in batches that can vary slightly in shade, so buy the full amount in one order.
  5. See it first. Order a sample to check the colour and finish in your own light.

Questions people ask

Can I use this tile on the floor?
Yes, it's made for floors and walls. In showers and wet rooms a matt or anti-slip finish is safer underfoot than polished.
Is it suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes. Use a flexible adhesive and let the heating come up to temperature slowly the first time.
How many tiles do I need?
Measure the length and width of each area, multiply, and add the areas together. Add 10% for cuts and breakage, or 15% for herringbone and diagonal layouts. Type your area into the calculator above and it does the maths for you.
Which adhesive and grout should I use?
Porcelain needs a flexible cement-based adhesive (S1). Large tiles need a thicker, solid bed. The tiling kit above picks the right products and works out how much you need.
What does rectified mean?
Rectified tiles are cut to exact size after firing, so they can be laid with slim 2mm joints for a near-seamless look. This tile is rectified.
Do I need to seal these tiles?
No. Glazed porcelain and ceramic tiles don't need sealing. A grout sealer helps keep light grout clean.
Will the colour match the photos?
Screens show colours differently, so order a sample to see it in your own light. Tiles can vary slightly from batch to batch, so order the full amount in one go.
