Savela Green Gloss Ceramic 70x280mm Metro Wall Tile

Green has quietly become the default alternative to white in British kitchens, and metro is where it looks most at home. Savela Green pairs a rich glazed green with a gloss surface that shifts as the light moves across it, so a splashback never reads as one dead block of colour. The slim 70x280mm format keeps it from feeling heavy, even across a full wall.

  • Made in Spain

Where it works

Kitchen splashbacks and full walls, utility rooms, cloakrooms and bath surrounds. Green sits naturally with oak, walnut and rattan, and looks especially good against unlacquered brass or antique gold handles and taps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What metals and woods work with it?
Brass and aged gold are the obvious win. Chrome works but reads cooler and more contemporary; black hardware gives a sharper, more graphic result.

Should I lay it horizontally or vertically?
Vertical stack bond is having a moment and suits the narrow 70mm width — it draws the eye upward and makes a low splashback look taller. Half-brick bond is the classic if you want it to feel timeless rather than of-the-moment.

Is it a Spanish tile?
Yes — made in Spain and imported directly by us. Spanish factories are particularly good at coloured glazes, which is what you are buying with a green like this one.

Can I see it before committing?
Yes — order a free sample. Greens shift noticeably under warm bulbs versus daylight, so it is worth checking the tile against your worktop in your own kitchen before buying a full order.

  1. Check where it can go. Floors need a tile rated for floors. In showers and wet rooms, a matt or anti-slip finish is safer underfoot than polished.
  2. Measure and add 10%. Length x width for each area, added together, plus 10% for cuts and breakage (15% for herringbone or diagonal layouts). The calculator above does this for you.
  3. Pick your joint. Rectified tiles take a slim 2mm joint; non-rectified tiles need about 3mm. Large tiles need a flat surface; levelling clips help.
  4. Order it all together. Tiles are made in batches that can vary slightly in shade, so buy the full amount in one order.
  5. See it first. Order a sample to check the colour and finish in your own light.

Questions people ask

Can I use this tile on the floor?
No, this is a wall tile. For floors, choose a tile rated for floor use.
Is it suitable for underfloor heating?
We don't recommend this tile over underfloor heating.
How many tiles do I need?
Measure the length and width of each area, multiply, and add the areas together. Add 10% for cuts and breakage, or 15% for herringbone and diagonal layouts. Type your area into the calculator above and it does the maths for you.
Which adhesive and grout should I use?
Use a cement-based tile adhesive; a flexible one (S1) is best on floors and over boards. Large tiles need a thicker, solid bed. The tiling kit above picks the right products and works out how much you need.
What does rectified mean?
Rectified tiles are cut to exact size after firing, so they can be laid with slim 2mm joints for a near-seamless look. This tile isn't rectified, so allow a 3mm joint.
Do I need to seal these tiles?
No. Glazed porcelain and ceramic tiles don't need sealing. A grout sealer helps keep light grout clean.
Will the colour match the photos?
Screens show colours differently, so order a sample to see it in your own light. Tiles can vary slightly from batch to batch, so order the full amount in one go.
