The Sky range is a family of five polished marble-effect porcelain tiles at Tiles Paradise: Sky Gold & White, Sky Golden Black, Sky Blue, Sky Grey and Sky Gold. Prices start at £21.99 per m², in 60×60cm and 60×120cm formats. All five share a high-gloss glaze, rectified edges and bold, painterly veining, but each sets a very different mood in a room.
So the real question is not "is Sky any good?" but "which Sky?" That depends less on taste than on three practical things: how much daylight your room gets, who walks on the floor, and which metal finishes you already have. This guide profiles each colourway, then helps you match one to your room, costs three real projects and sets out the trade-offs that come with any polished floor.
Meet the Five Sky Colourways

Sky Gold & White: soft clouds with copper light
Character: a pale grey-white base, swirled like a stormy sky, with charcoal veins and patches of copper-gold. It is the most artistic of the five.
Sizes and price: the Sky Gold & White 60×120cm is £28.99 per m² and 9mm thick. The 60×60cm version is £24.99 per m² and 9.5mm thick. Unusually, the smaller tile is the cheaper one here.
Shines in: feature bathroom walls, behind a freestanding bath, and hallway floors that need a statement.
Think twice if: you want a quiet backdrop. The copper patches are the point of this tile, and they draw the eye.

Sky Golden Black: the range's best-seller
Character: a deep black base with fine gold veins, in the style of the classic Nero Portoro marble. Over the past year it has been our most popular Sky colourway by a clear margin.
Sizes and price: the Sky Golden Black 60×60cm is £24.99 per m². The 60×120cm is £29.99 per m². Both are 9.5mm thick.
Shines in: living rooms with light walls, cloakrooms, and kitchen floors under white or wood cabinets. Our black marble-effect tiles show other dark options.
Think twice if: you have a dog, young children or a muddy garden path. A black polished floor shows dust, paw prints and dried water marks faster than any other colour in the range.
Sky Blue: deep ink with gold sparks
Character: an inky blue-teal, like deep water, with lighter blue veins and small flecks of gold. It is the boldest colour in the family.
Sizes and price: the Sky Blue 60×60cm is £26.99 per m² and 9.5mm thick.
Shines in: feature bathrooms and cloakrooms with good lighting, especially next to brass or gold fittings. The wider blue tiles collection has calmer blues if this feels too strong.
Think twice if: the room is small and has no window. Deep blue on every surface can feel enclosed without good artificial light.

Sky Grey: lighter than its name suggests
Character: mostly white, with soft drifts of grey and charcoal. Despite the name, it reads as a light, cool marble rather than a grey tile.
Sizes and price: the Sky Grey 60×60cm is £21.99 per m², the lowest price in the range, and 9.5mm thick.
Shines in: small bathrooms, kitchens and rental refurbishments where you want marble character without strong colour. Our grey marble-effect tiles include darker greys if you do want a true grey.
Think twice if: you expected a mid-grey floor. Order a sample first.
Sky Gold: crisp white with bright gold rivers
Character: a bright white base crossed by bold, glowing gold veins with thin black edges. It is closest to the Calacatta Gold look.
Sizes and price: the Sky Gold 60×120cm is £23.99 per m² and 9.5mm thick. It is also the only Sky tile sold as both a job lot and a pallet, which makes it the best value for big floors (see the costed projects below).
Shines in: open-plan floors, bright bathrooms and anywhere with brushed brass. For more white-and-gold ideas, browse our gold marble-effect tiles.
Think twice if: you want gold to be a whisper. On Sky Gold, the gold is loud.

Which Sky Suits Your Room? Four Quick Questions
1. How much daylight does the room get? In a bright, south-facing room, any colourway works, and Golden Black or Sky Blue look their richest. In a north-facing room or a windowless cloakroom, the light colourways (Sky Grey, Sky Gold, Sky Gold & White) keep things open. Use the dark ones on a single feature wall there.
2. Who walks on the floor? For busy family floors, the mid-tone, busy-veined tiles hide the most: Sky Gold & White first, then Sky Grey. Pure black and pure white polished floors show the most dust and footprints, so keep Golden Black and Sky Gold for calmer rooms or walls.
3. Which metals do you already have? With brass or gold taps, choose Sky Gold, Sky Golden Black or Sky Blue, all of which carry gold in the veins. With chrome, Sky Grey is the natural partner. With matt black, Sky Gold and Sky Gold & White both have dark edges in the veins that pick it up.
4. How big is the room? In a cloakroom or small en-suite, the 60×60cm tiles are easier to cut around a toilet and basin. In open-plan spaces, the 60×120cm formats of Sky Gold, Sky Golden Black and Sky Gold & White mean fewer grout lines and a more slab-like look.
Living With a Polished Floor: The Honest Trade-offs
Grip. Every Sky tile is polished. The listings that state a slip rating give R9, the first step on the R scale, which suits dry indoor floors. That makes the range ideal for living rooms, hallways, kitchens and the dry side of a bathroom. It is also perfectly fine on shower walls. It is not a tile for the floor of a walk-in shower or wet room. If you want a "Sky" floor in the wet zone, the Sky Grey Matt 60×60cm is rated R11 and costs £22.99 per m². Our guide to non-slip bathroom floor tiles explains the ratings.
Dirt and water marks. A high-gloss surface reflects light, so anything on top of it shows: dust on black, footprints on white, and dried droplets on both. Microfibre and a pH-neutral cleaner, finished with a dry buff, keep it clear. Our guide to caring for black marble-effect floors covers dark tiles in detail.
Scratches. Porcelain is hard, but grit dragged under a chair leg can dull the gloss in a line. Felt pads and a doormat solve most of it.
Does it look like real marble? Up close, the veining runs across several different faces, so the floor does not repeat obviously. Large rectified tiles with narrow joints read as stone slabs, whereas small tiles with wide joints look like tiles. Our comparison of marble-effect porcelain and real marble covers the differences in cost and care.
Grout by Colourway
Matching the grout to the base colour is what makes a polished floor read as stone rather than a grid.
Sky Golden Black wants black grout. Mapei Ultracolor Plus 120 Black makes the joints vanish, so only the gold veins show. Sky Blue sits best with a deep charcoal such as Mapei 114 Anthracite. Sky Gold and Sky Grey need a clean white, Mapei 100 White, on walls. On busy floors, use a soft grey like Mapei 111 Silver Grey. Silver grey is also the right partner for Sky Gold & White everywhere, because it matches the grey in the clouds. For dark tiles in particular, our black bathroom tile and grout guide covers the details.
Three Projects, Costed
Each box covers 1.44m². Add 10% for cuts, then round up to whole boxes; the tile calculator does it for you. Delivery is £39.99 on orders from £100 to £499 and free above £499 to the UK mainland.
A 2.2 × 1.8m en-suite floor in Sky Grey 60×60cm. You need 4 boxes (5.76m²) at about £31.67 each: £126.66 for the tiles, £166.65 delivered. This is the cheapest way into the range.
A 12m² feature bathroom in Sky Blue 60×60cm. You need 10 boxes (14.4m²) at about £38.87 each: £388.66 for the tiles, £428.65 delivered.
A 6 × 6m open-plan floor in Sky Golden Black 60×120cm. You need 28 boxes (40.32m²): £1,209.20 by the box. The Sky Golden Black pallet is 64 tiles (46.08m²) for £1,200 with free delivery. It costs slightly less and leaves nearly 6m² spare for repairs. From 28 boxes upwards, the pallet is the better buy.
If you choose Sky Gold for a big floor, the maths swings further in your favour. Boxes cost about £34.55 each. The Sky Gold job lot is 42 tiles (30.24m²) for £600, and the Sky Gold pallet is 60 tiles (43.2m²) for £799, about £18.50 per m². Here is which way to buy, by the number of boxes you need:
-
Up to 17 boxes: buy by the box.
-
18 to 21 boxes: the job lot is cheaper.
-
22 to 26 boxes: the job lot plus extra boxes.
-
27 boxes or more: the pallet.
For a 25m² kitchen-diner (20 boxes), the job lot saves £90.91 over buying by the box.
Laying Polished Sky Tiles
Polish shows every lip between tiles, so start with a flat floor and use levelling clips on the 60×120cm formats. Bed each tile fully in a flexible S1 cement-based adhesive. On long tiles, keep any offset to a third of the tile length or less. The rectified edges allow a 2mm joint. Before fixing, open several boxes and spread the different faces across the floor, so two dramatic veins never sit side by side. Wipe grout haze off promptly, as our grouting guide explains, because haze dulls gloss faster on dark tiles than on light ones. All five colourways are suitable for underfloor heating.
Before You Choose: Short Answers
Which Sky colourway is the most popular?
Sky Golden Black, in both sizes, followed by Sky Gold & White.
Are Sky tiles slippery?
They are polished. On dry floors they are fine; when wet, any polished tile is slippery. Use a bath mat outside the shower, and a matt R11 tile or a tray on the shower floor.
Do black polished tiles show dirt?
Yes, more than lighter colours: dust, footprints and water spots all show on black gloss. A quick daily dust and a weekly pH-neutral mop keep Sky Golden Black looking right.
Do Sky tiles need sealing?
No. The listings state that porcelain does not need sealing the way natural marble does.
Can I use Sky tiles on shower walls?
Yes. Polished porcelain is ideal on walls, including inside the shower.
Can I mix two Sky colourways?
Yes, carefully. A Sky Golden Black floor with Sky Gold walls, or Sky Grey walls with a Sky Blue feature wall, both work because the vein styles relate. Keep to two colourways per room.
Can Sky tiles go outside?
No. The polished range is for indoor use only.
What goes with black and gold tiles?
Warm wood, brushed brass, white walls and camel or cognac fabrics. Our gold, white and black bathroom ideas show complete schemes.
Can I see every polished option in one place?
Yes. Browse our gloss and polished tiles.
One Range, Five Moods
The Sky range covers almost every polished-marble mood. Choose Sky Grey for calm and value, Sky Gold for bright luxury and big-floor deals, and Sky Gold & White for artistic warmth. Choose Sky Blue for drama in colour and Sky Golden Black for drama in contrast. Choose by your light and your lifestyle first, match the grout to the base colour, and keep the polish off wet floors. Order a sample of your top two, because these are tiles that look different in every room.
